If there is a textbook on how to conduct an efficient, courteous, and affordable move, Bookstore Movers wrote it. From the initial inquiry form through the customer feedback process and everything in between, it felt like I was dealing with REAL people who cared about me and my move. They were highly communicative and courteous WITHOUT being cloyingly nice and trite. Chris called me the morning of the move to tell me he and his crew (Corey and Stephen) would be 7 minutes late. In a world of a 15-minute grace period, I thought this was remarkable. When they arrived, they were quick and efficient without being gruff, dismissive, or rude. Of course, they were careful with all of my things AND the building. I was working within my own inconvenient parking restrictions, and they were committed to getting it done within these constraints. I will reiterate that as friendly as they were, it was not in a way that made me feel it was some big sales pitch that they putting on to get good ratings. I genuinely believe they are good guys, doing good work in the District. I would recommend them to anyone needing to move in the DMV.

Where do I even begin? My fiance and I were SO stressed about moving. I had been living in my apartment for 6 years and had no idea how much stuff we'd accumulated since living together. We just bought a house and knew we couldn't move on our own. We worried a lot about our things being damaged, so we moved things like plants and artwork ourselves ahead of time. We even stayed up until 1am before the move to make sure everything was packed and sorted efficiently. Well, we shouldn't have been so worried! Patrick, Chris, Kahdeem, William, and Joshua showed up on time, in great spirits and moved our belongings with a shocking ease. My fiance and I just sat on the couch watching them in awe. The move only took 3 hours from start to finish, and I never worried for a moment that they would damage our items. They take care to wrap everything so it won't get damaged. I could have cried, I was so relieved at how great they were. I have already told all my friends to use them.

I've moved 12 times in 17 years - and these guys were the best.. they showed up on time, were pro-active, went out of their way to make sure that nothing was damaged. They actually finished early so we had more time to organize our things. We really recommend them! A fantastic group!

GREAT service.  We used Bookstore movers in November for a small move from VA to MD.  From start to finish, they were great to work with. It's easy to reserve your move time; they provided a clear estimate of potential costs; the movers arrived on time - and even texted ahead of time to confirm their ETA; the movers - Howard and Lloyd - were helpful and friendly; they brought their own blankets to cushion damage-prone items and wrapped them up carefully; and they got to the ultimate destination and efficiently unloaded.  Stress-free, positive experience working with them and it was affordable.

WHERE DO I EVEN START? (First of all let me preface this review with the fact that I'm not an overly positive and obnoxious complimenting reviewer. If you look over all of my reviews I'm not afraid to give lower stars and I often look to give 4 stars unless someone has blown my socks off.)  I WAS blown away with every aspect of my experience with this company. I've lived in DC for about 9 years and have moved a handful of times. For as long as I can remember I've heard about Bookstore Movers as THE company to hire, but unfortunately my turn around time from when I found my future living situation and my moving date were too short to get on to their populated schedule.  1) They had EASILY the best rate, hands down.  2) Between my boyfriend and I (more I), we have enough things I was expecting it to take at least 3 hours (as all of my previous moves took at least 4 or 5) and these guys took around 2.  3) At least once, everyone expressed their well wishes and congratulations. That might seem random and not important in the grand scheme of things, but moving is STRESSFUL and it's nice to have great, supportive people around you.  * I also want to specifically give a shout out to the team I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with. They were prompt and accurate on their estimated timing and called me earlier in the day to update me on their expected arrival. They were professional, kind, respectful, genuine...  In the future, I would rather change my move in date at an inconvenience to me, than work with any other company.

Our move could not have been better. I dread moving day, and the weeks leading up to it but the entire team at Bookstore made it such an easy process for us. They were very communicative from the time I requested and estimate to the date of our move. This was the third (or maybe even fourth) time I've used Bookstore and I've always had the same experience. Use them! You will not regret it.

This was an excellent experience from start to finish.  The scheduling was simple and all communications were thorough and prompt.  The crew was on time and ready to go, friendly, attentive, and efficient.  Their camaraderie was infectious and the communication between them all was effective.  They were training a new person and I was impressed with how they carefully and seriously talked him through things without slowing things down. This was my third move with BookStore Movers and I have another experience with them about which to rave.

Bookstore Movers is the absolute best. I have used them several times over the past 10 years, as has my daughter who moves regularly. We have always received the most courteous and efficient service, no matter who is on the crew. We've used them both with and without their truck. They do not dawdle, they do not break things. They move swiftly and carefully, not damaging either the goods being moved or the walls in the house. Their rates are excellent. The folks at the bookstore who respond to our emails are prompt and polite, always keeping us informed about details and timing. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Professional, efficient, and friendly. I never thought I would write this about a moving company. I've had more than my share of experiences with movers. Usually it is a very frustrating experience with late, slow, unprofessional (and usually at times scary and incompetent) movers. Wow, was this a breath of fresh air. Bookstore Movers responded to my email overnight, scheduled a day/time, and then the company and the movers themselves followed up to confirm details and pass me their direct contact information. On the day of the move they were on time and incredibly courteous. They finished the work under the estimated time but they never rushed. No doubt about it, once I need movers again I will go straight to this company. I highly recommend them!

This is the first time I've used movers, and I'll never go back! Not only did they make sure that my move went efficiently, but everyone was friendly, nice, and careful with my things. Nothing was damaged and in fact everything was protected even though it was drizzling. I'm beyond happy with my move and even though it was an added expense I don't regret it whatsoever.

Third consecutive time moving with you all great experience each time. This time was unique cause at the destination address, there was a conflict in the reservation of the loading dock...we took the loading dock despite us being early for our reserved time, knowing that we'd have to move when the other tenant arrived. Luckily, the other incoming tenant was also using bookstore movers! Instead of there being a territorial conflict, the other bookstore crew combined powers (unbeknownst to me) to help my guys unpack the truck even faster so that they could move in. What a cool story and great illustration of Bookstore’s friendliness, smartness, and teamwork.

It is rare when any service much less a moving company, exceed expectations, but Bookstore Movers did, and then some. In fact, the company and their remarkably competent, efficient, friendly, and helpful crew radically redefine what a moving experience can be. I can’t praise this company enough. Use them!

From my initial request for a quote to the communications day of, everything (and everyone) at Bookstore Movers was professional, polite, knowledgeable and friendly. Even when different people passed off the communications, it never felt like I had to restart the conversation. For lovers of system and process (guilty!), watching the crew work was super impressive. When you see people good at what they do, you just gotta love it. It's tough to do backbreaking work like this, folks. And for people to do it with good cheer is lovely to experience.

Have nothing but good things to say about Bookstore Movers. I really liked the useful bin rentals (they rent you big, sturdy, stackable blue bins for packing your stuff, deliver them before your move, and then pick them empty a few days later at your new place). The company also works with you to get very detailed information about your move, answer any questions, and make sure that everyone is clear about what's happening, when, and how.

There's a reason these guys get 5 stars. They are organized, courteous, efficient and careful with your stuff. Renting bins rather than buying boxes that you have to recycle is also helpful because there is a lot less trash which helps with the chaos on the other end of the move. I have moved many times and this is the best and most pleasant experience as far as moving goes that one can possibly hope for. Moving is never fun, but these guys make it less painful.

I used Bookstore Movers for a small office move, involving three separate locations in Virginia and Maryland. They definitely earned their 5 stars every step of the process ran smoothly. The schedulers provided very helpful information on how to prepare for the move, and they checked in twice in the days just prior to moving day to make sure everything was on track. The crew was prompt (a bit early, actually), friendly, and very efficient. I highly recommend them!

We recently used bookstore movers to move from a difficult to access Capitol Hill row house with lots of narrow stairs. The move exceeded our best expectations. The reservation and estimation process was friendly and easy. The reminders and requests for an updated move inventory was helpful and professional. The move itself was remarkable. Three young men showed up on time, politely introduced themselves and then turned into a moving whirlwind. Although they very carefully wrapped all items, the move from the old apartment was complete in less than an hour. Despite having to wait for the loading dock and elevators at the new apartment, the move was completed 15 minutes before the estimated time. Again, at the end of the process, the three movers shook our hands and thanked us for the opportunity to be our movers. Additionally, Bookstore Movers supports its local community and is a great business citizen on Capitol Hill. All in all, VERY impressive experience and worthy of recommendation without hesitation.

Bookstore Movers made relocating my 90yr old mom so easy. The reservation process was easy, and the recommendations from Kate were helpful. Greg, Russ, and Maurice showed up at the appointed time and got right to work, grabbing the boxes and wrapping delicate items in blankets they were very careful with my mom's things and very sweet and courteous to her. A move at any age is hard, but this was emotionally and physically jarring to leave her residence of 43 years. The guys were quick, and they made the whole experience about as painless as it possibly could have been. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I wasn’t sure where to begin when looking for DC moving companies. I typed in a simple search to Google and was overwhelmed at just how many companies exist. I narrowed down my options to 3 companies with Bookstore Movers being first preference because of their outrageous 5 star average review. However, I was skeptical that any company – movers or not – could really have 5 star reviews from over 400 people. From start to finish, this was outstanding service. As soon as they received my quote, I got a detailed email with relevant questions and tips for making the move easy. I responded with some directions and a few questions myself, and was pleasantly surprised that I had an actual person respond (Kate, Jackie and Matt – thank you!) rather than an automated reply or radio silence. .. They arrived promptly on time Saturday morning and got right to work. I cannot say enough great things about their attitude and overall work ethic. They worked quickly but also took the time to make sure boxes were taped appropriately and furniture was wrapped safely. They also had an extra guy along that was there for training, and it was great to see how seriously they take the business – offering him a lot of tips and tricks to make sure he was handling our furniture with the utmost care. I doubt a lot of other moving companies take the time to do this. The greatest thing about this service – even more than their efficiency and special handling – was their attitude. Each of the guys were incredibly respectful and overall just good people. They genuinely seemed to be having a good time and made an experience that is almost always a nightmare, somehow almost enjoyable. Also special kudos...

Stop your moving search, Bookstore Movers are the best. I’ve used movers for small local moves, big cross country moves and Bookstore Movers are the best I’ve ever experienced. The moving team was timely, kind, professional and a great group. The back office team communicated consistently with us including telling us who the team lead would be for moving day with his email and phone number. They are accessible, responsible and a company that understands the human element of business. I moved right after Superstorm Jonas and they were prepared with shovels, salt and anything else they would need. They worked quickly and as a team. If I had to hire movers for anything, I’d hire Bookstore Movers without hesitation.  

I thought to myself “surely, surely they can’t be as good as people say they are. They’re just a moving company!” How wrong I was. From the very first, well-detailed, prompt reply to my inquiry to the moving day, Bookstore Movers were the most incredible, professional team I’ve ever dealt with. They made what is usually a horrendous experience for me into a very pleasant and quick morning. I was blown away at how fast Nate, John, & team were, and was so happy to be done hours before I thought we would be. They loaded up my entire basement apartment in 30 minutes, and unloaded just as quickly – all while being exceptionally careful with my stuff, friendly, and professional. I shopped around before selecting Bookstore Movers, and found them to be incredibly competitive in pricing and worth every penny. Can’t recommend them strongly enough. I will absolutely be using them every single time I ever move.

These guys are 5-star all the way… Kris, Jason, and Matt (who I dealt with on the phone and via e-mail to set up the move) all seemed like really good guys in addition to being a tremendous help with our move… We were about 2 hours late showing up with our moving truck (from Michigan) and we phoned ahead and had our building manager give the keys to our movers (Kris and Jason) who had everything planned out and ready when we finally pulled up with a 26′ truck and a car carrier… they helped me maneuver the “train,” including unhooking the car carrier to get the truck into the loading dock and hooking it back up afterward, into the loading dock…. we also WAY underestimated the time it was going to take (over the phone and NOT their fault) so there were additional complications having to do with availability of my building’s freight elevator, etc… Kris and Jason were incredibly helpful with unloading and moving our things, but also with all the complications that arose that were well outside the scope of their strict job description… I initially had made reservations with a crew of non-professional movers, who quoted us about half the hourly rate (and money’s tight for us); HOWEVER, after experiencing firsthand how complicated something as simple as unloading a truck can get, I would go with these guys again and again. In summary, for an hourly rate about double that for general laborers on Craigslist (but very reasonable relative to other professional moving outfits), what you’ll be getting is first rate reliability, professionalism, and peace-of-mind.

I can only think of one word to describe them: fan-freaking-tastic. They’ve handled our last two moves, and I can’t imagine leaving our stuff in anyone else’s hands. Matt and Craig moved our stuff yesterday (9/24/09) and did an awesome job – I think the original estimate was 4 hours, but they knocked it out in about 2.5 hours. In spite of a very early start time, heavy ass heirloom furniture, and a very frisky dog that nearly divebombed Craig while hauling said heavy ass furniture, they were professional and fast. Communication before the move was great, too – the response to my first email was immediate, and I had plenty of updates leading up to the move date. And if that wasn’t enough, Matt lent a sympathetic ear to my landlord issues from the place we were moving out of, and confirmed that we were moving away from a complete douchebag.

Not long ago, I needed to move from one side of town to the other, and a heaping handful of things, which I will explain in a moment, tumbled together and led me to go with Bookstore Movers. In the past, moving has never been a big deal for me. I never had much stuff to move. I would always just make a few trips in my car or someone else’s truck and chalk it up as one terrible, but necessary, step in moving on to someplace better. Well, this time I calculated that I didn’t really have time or energy to implement my usual do-it-myself strategy, so I decided to hire some movers. I went with Bookstore Movers because: They came highly recommended by some friends of mine. They are intelligent guys. I had the immediate impression from them that I wasn’t going to have to explain everything to them 3 times; that made me trust them. They specialize in apartment to apartment moves like mine was, and laid out exactly what they and I needed to know to make the move go smoothly. I love books. They love books. I think I may have detected a Spinoza reference in one of their emails to me. You will likely not detect Spinoza references in emails from other moving companies. They are licensed w DOT and fully insured. I checked. Anyway, they did an amazing job. Showed up on time and everything went quickly and smoothly. First class service.Great guys.

Incredible movers- the best experience I’ve had in my life (and I’ve lived through about seven professional moves). Matt communicated with me via email quickly and was extremely responsive. They charge by the hour, and it’s variable depending on the truck size and the number of men. I got three men and the small truck (but we actually had to make a second trip because all my boxes didn’t quite fit- this was my fault for underestimating my stuff to Matt, not their fault!), and for a 5-hour move it came to $700. This was for a two-bedroom home. This price was incredible to me, as the guys would literally run to make sure they weren’t wasting time, and took extreme care with my furniture and belongings as well as the freshly-painted walls and newly-refinished floors in my new house. Not one single ding, scratch, or broken anything. And to top it all off, the guys were really professional and well-educated (Beau was the manager of my move, and he went to Princeton and almost finished a PhD in philosophy before realizing he probably couldn’t make a career of it). Brandon and Kris rounded up the team, and each guy was sweet, strong, fast, and professional. What a pleasure it was — I can’t sing their praises loudly enough!  

Listen up, everyone! I’ve moved 10 times in the last 10 years (yes, I know that’s ridiculous, but between grad school and switching coasts twice, it adds up!)…so I have tried a fair number of moving companies. Bookstore movers is by far the best experience I have ever had moving. How can you beat: -In touch with you at various points before your move; -gave a pretty dead-on accurate estimate; -gave me great tips and suggestions before my move to make it go as fast as possible; -they showed up on time; -they are really nice, professional, and smart guys; -they speak english very well (some of you may laugh at this one, but trust me, that’s something that you can’t automatically expect with movers); -they were the most careful and considerate about all my belongings (as oppose to other movers who could care less); -they even told me when they made a 2 minute phone call that they were stopping the clock!; AND -They did not charge any miscellaneous fees for stairs, travel time, etc.–a rarity in the moving world; Bottom line, they were amazing. If you complain that your move takes too long, that’s usually because you are a bad packer. So, use their tips and suggestions by packing well and the rest will be cake with these guys helping you!A++++

I am one of those people who usually moves myself, but after this tremendous experience, I will never move on my own again. I got quotes from several different companies, 1 large company, 1 medium sized company and Bookstore Movers. A friend of mine who had moved recently had recommended Bookstore Movers but had said it might be tough to get a date. After I had gotten all my quotes, I decided that I wanted to give the business to the local company, so I called and talked with Matt and he said that he was pretty sure that my move date would work, so I sent him the details of my move and he provided me with a quote. They even were able to suggest where to rent boxes for packing (even wardrobe boxes). So I locked them in for my move date. On the day of my move it was about 98 degrees with high humidity, and the guys were there on time right at 7am. They loaded up all of my stuff carefully in under 2 hours. We drove over to my new place and they had everything unpacked in just about 3 hours. The original quote was pretty spot on. At $115/hr and no truck fee, this is by far one of the best deals in town. The guys are professional and courteous and you can really tell that they know what they are doing. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a solid moving company! They will definitely be my first call if I move again.

My fiance and I recently moved to Silver Spring and hired these guys to unload our U-Haul truck, and we could not have been happier with the service we received from Bookstore Movers. Matt, the business’ owner, was extremely helpful over email in the weeks leading up to the move (even when I emailed him multiple times a day); a couple of the emails bounced back with a message saying they were on a long day of moves and would get back to me at the end of the day, but even with these messages, I always received an email reply within an hour or two. Matt and the crew were willing to be flexible, which was great for us since we moved from NYC and couldn’t predict the traffic. Kris and Kareem moved us, and were extremely friendly, helpful, and efficient. Because they arrived a 10-15 minutes before we did, Kris took it upon himself to go into the building and speak to the desk attendant about where to park our truck and to confirm our reservation for the freight elevator, so when we arrived, they were able to get to work immediately. They even brought their own handtrucks and furniture dollies, making the ones we rented from U-Haul obsolete. Overall, this was a great experience. Matt, Kris, and Kareem were all very professional and FAST, which is what everyone wants at the end of a very long moving day. If I ever have to move in the DC area again, I will definitely use these guys.

It’s hard to say something new after all the glowing reviews on here, but I certainly had a great experience with these guys as well. When my original moving team was delayed by an earlier move taking longer than expected, the owner (Matt) grabbed another of his workers and showed up himself to take care of my job. They were fast, efficient, careful, and courteous, both during the move and in the lead-up to it. (Matt was very responsive by email during the planning phase, and when my original moving team first realized they were going be delayed, they immediately called to let me know my options.) There’s no question that the next time I have to move I will give them a call.

I recommend the Bookstore Movers to everyone. Seriously, I won’t let any of my friends move WITHOUT using them. I have always been a fan of the actual Bookstore, so figured I would try the moving company out. At this point I have used them twice and am planning to move soon and will aboslutely use them again. The movers were super smart, strong, friendly, nice guys – the company is reliable and affordable – and you are supporting great people involved in a truly local business. The Bookstore Movers were awesome movers – efficient and flexible – even though that day I was a disorganized mess. I was moving out of a house on a super busy street and the movers showed up in the morning right on time – at rush hour – and called to ask me if I had gotten no parking signs from the police station to allow them to park the van on the side of the road (like they had asked me to!) I had forgotten, but even though the street was super busy and there wasn’t a parking spot to be found, they worked it out in no time. I had certain things which I forgot to pack, and they helped me get everything together – always with a genuine, great attitude. The second time I moved, the move started in the afternoon and they worked into the evening with no problem until the job was 110% finished. They movers hauled my stuff all over town, even to my Grandma’s house in the ‘burbs and the guys were charming and polite to her (note: my Grandma suggested I marry, or at least, date, either or both of the two movers (ideally, not at once)). Again, head in the clouds, I forgot to...

I used Bookstore Movers for the second time this past weekend and I still have nothing but praise for these guys. The whole process is easy, fast, and fun – I couldn’t ask for better people to hang out with for a morning, nevermind people to help me through a frustrating two-part move (with an elevator outage). Contacting the company and scheduling the trip is super easy, as is making adjustments if needed. The movers – I had Craig and Aaron – showed up exactly on time, loaded up the truck quickly and carefully, and were just all around awesome at their job. Even when we discovered that the elevator was out at the storage unit, the guys were totally easygoing and incredibly fast up and down those stairs. There isn’t another move in my near future, but I would recommend the Bookstore Movers over any other option available to you – don’t waste time looking at other companies or enlisting your friends on moving day. Just contact these guys and it will be the best decision you make about moving day. Moving isn’t something people generally do for fun, but these guys make your day totally enjoyable. I’m locally nomadic, as in, I don’t even know what the form would look like to renew a lease. That being said, I’ve had my fair share of experiences with moving. After seeing a blurb about Bookstore Movers in the Washingtonian about a year ago, I held onto their name until it was time for my yearly move. While the move was short, I had about 2 br 2 ba worth of furniture/boxes to move include an extremely loved LED 55 TV, expensive living room and bedroom furniture. For my last move, I used Gentle Giant. They took 6.5 hours to do almost the exact same move, charged about $175/hr and scratched my furniture so bad they had to send out someone to repair it. I was nervous to say the least about trying yet another moving company and praying that this time nothing gets broken, chipped or scratched. The move was flawless. I went from a high-rise (elevator and loading dock totally separate from building) to a garden style condo. The move took a total of 3 hours. There wasn’t a scratch on anything and they were kind enough to stick around and help me switch the placement of a few pieces of heavy furniture. Needless to say, I was extremely satisfied and have been recommending Bookstore Movers to anyone that is moving

These guys were amazing. They were early, cordial and professional without being overly so (know what I mean? Too eager?Yeah, not them). They picked up my one bedroom in about twenty minutes, secured it all in their truck and met me at my new place. Where their services became extraordinary was the great sofa adventure. My big sofa was about an inch (just an inch!) too tall to fit into the front door on the top of the narrow stairs in a cramped enclosure. After trying several configures to no avail (all of this I foresaw, unfortunately), they trudged in a mild drizzle to the alley to the back door and proceeded to hoist/wind/lift/swing that beast of a sofa around a spiral staircase and into the back door! Incredible!!! They were so accomodating in arranging the rug, furniture, boxes and totes, all without a complaint! Amazing. I love their cause and shall shop their bookstore (which, by the way, is a book lover’s delight with the kitschy appearing this week: Norman Mailer signage and the books piling up on the stairs and in the bathroom. I will gladly help these guys fund the great bookstore-buying endeavor and sing their praises. They are fantastically awesome!

Like playing a video game with the God code on, these guys make an annoyingly and difficult situation so easy it almost feels wrong. On time, amusing banter, extremely helpful and absurdly cheap, call early to book them because they are the best in town. They are my go to team for as long as i’m living in the area.

Everything about my recent move from an apartment to a townhouse (both in DC) was professional and seamless. Matt was timely in responding to my emails and he and Bo arrived promptly at the designated time. My inability to secure the elevator key didn’t faze them despite the fact that it made the move out of my apartment less convenient. They were careful with all of my items even when taking them up and down some narrow stairwells in the townhouse. They also moved a few pieces of furniture out of the house that we were getting rid of. The estimate/pricing is competitive and fair. I also like that they are local and their bookstore is in my new neighborhood, so I can continue to support a great local business! I would highly recommend them!

These guys were great! I had never hired movers before, instead always relying on friends and a rental truck, so I was apprehensive about trusting my belongings to total strangers. I needn’t have worried with Bookstore Movers though, as they’re professionals all the way through — First, they had great communication, from start to finish. From my first request for a quote right up through confirming a few days before and a follow-up the day after, they were in regular contact. Other moving companies that I contacted for quotes when I was shopping around dropped the ball by replying late or not at all. These guys never left me feeling forgotten or ignored. On the day of the move, they showed up promptly on time first thing in the morning, and were immediately ready to start. There was no uncertainty — just a quick look around at everything that I had to move, and then they immediately started loading the truck. They were friendly and personable, and seemed to genuinely enjoy their work (as much as anyone can enjoy carrying heavy objects down three flights of stairs, anyway!). They worked quickly and efficiently, and before I knew it everything was done. In the end, the move that they had estimated at three to five hours ended up taking just over two. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone who is looking to move in the DC area. The next time I move (hopefully not too soon!) I’ll be giving them a call.

Stop looking for another moving company and hire Bookstore Movers. If they can’t squeeze you into their schedule, you might want to reconsider your moving date and plans. I had heard about these erudite property transporters through a number of friends, and decided to give them a shot this past weekend. A number of positives that require highlighting: 1) I asked for them to show up at 7 am on a saturday…not only did they show up, but Matt texted me at 6:15 am to make sure that I was awake and ready to go; 2) I discovered during my move that I needed to assemble/disassemble a few pieces of furniture…the Bookstore Movers had all of the tools that I needed; 3) I moved into an eighth story apartment and my couch would not fit in the elevator…Matt and Aaron hauled the couch up eight flights of stairs in about ten minutes; 4) they were QUICK…except for the couch, my move was pretty much completed from beginning to end in 3 hours; 5) I enjoyed their casual but professional demeanor…friendly but very business like. I cant imagine a better moving experience.

Matt and Craig were awesome. Fast, reliable, and reasonably priced — but also smart and funny. Like to the point that I wanted them to stick around after the move and watch TV with me. Someone else mentioned that they’re relentlessly good-humored, and it’s really true, which is so nice when you’re in the middle of a move and consumed by anxiety, which is how I get when I’m moving. For instance, they were super accommodating about my inability to commit to a spot for one particular piece of furniture, and they ended up moving it three times for me (and convinced me that they really weren’t put out by it; they actually seemed entertained by it, which made me feel less guilty). Oh, and Matt let me do all the pre-move communication by email, which I consider a huge bonus. And, like that’s not enough, they started the business to earn money to buy a bookstore. So I’m sort of rapturous. I highly recommend these guys.

Matt and Craig moved me this passed week and were phenomenal. My sister was using a different set of big name movers and the contrast was ridiculous. Matt and Craig were polite and bent over backwards to do the job right whereas the other movers spent a lot of time hitting on my sister. Also these guys trudged through a half foot of snow that hadn’t melted since the blizzard around my old apartment and didn’t miss a beat. They also are very careful and intelligent with your stuff. They were able to gauge fragile things even with my poor labeling and treated them with extra care. They completed the move of my one bedroom apartment worth of stuff in a little over three hours and didn’t charge me for the extra time over three hours.

Simply put…I hate moving. Spending hours and hours breaking your back to put things you once removed from a box into a different box to only remove it once again next weekend in a new location. The only thing that could possibly make moving more painful is the inclement weather that stalks every weary Washington DC resident throughout the Spring. I am delighted to say that this move, at least one of four dreary days, was brightened by the Bookstore Movers. Two days before my fiancee and I were scheduled to move, our mover had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict. Needless to say, this left us in a bad spot. In utter despiration, I contacted Bookstore Movers who had previously indicated they were booked. They responded immediately, spoke with the other clients, and were able to fit us in. As if this gracious effort was not enough, they performed tasks previously thought impossible in the moving industry. They arrived on time. They were courteous. They were cautious with my belongings. They worked hard. They charged a fair price clearly explained before they arrived. The team and the service was, for lack of a better word, awesome (in its classical sense…not in the TMNT sense). I for one find it ironic that the best mover I have ever hired was, in actuality, not a mover but a used bookstore manager saving up to make the business his own. In sum, my opinion of movers remains unchanged. My opinion regarding the people and services of Bookstore Movers could not be higher. Don’t let the 5 star rating fool you…their exceptional services could not be rated high enough.

Using bookstore movers was the best choice we made! First, they were extremely prompt in responding to our online inquiry. They were able to get us a pack date and a move date that were perfect for us. Their crew packed up our 2 bedroom apartment in under three hours! They moved us the next day and our house already looks amazing. On move in day they laid down our carpets, rebuilt our beds, etc. We were able to sleep in our home comfortably on the first night. Not a single thing broke throughout the move. lastly, the gentlemen who packed and moved us were friendly, professional, and extremely hardworking. I was so impressed with all of them, especially our team lead, Marcus who was courteous and organized. I would recommend them to anyone moving!

The absolute BEST moving experience my family has ever had. Not only was the team timely and insanely efficient, but extremely professional and courteous as well... a combination you don't see too often these days. Stop searching and pick Bookstore Movers... it's the smartest choice you'll make.
